HeidelbergCement recently accomplished a comprehensive CSC certification campaign in Germany: Five aggregates production sites, ten cement plants and twelve concrete plants successfully underwent the certification process.
Particularly noteworthy is the awarding of certificates at the level PLATINUM for four Heidelberger Sand und Kies quarries, one HeidelbergCement cement plant and for two Heidelberger Beton concrete plants. It is for the first time that this challenging CSC certification level was achieved by a cement plant and by concrete plants, respectively.
“We recently implemented several energy savings measures which helped reducing our CO2 emissions” says Matthias Trauth, Head of Technology at Heidelberger Beton. “We are very proud to see that our efforts enabled us to bring our CSC scoring to the next level and to receive the first CSC certificates at the level PLATINUM for our concrete plants in Bremen Hemelingen and Berlin Neukölln”.
“CSC certification allows production sites to gain a holistic understanding of their sustainability performance” explains Dr. Christian Artelt, Senior Manager Sustainable Construction and Public Affairs at HeidelbergCement. “Our successful engagement in CSC certification highlights our commitment to sustainability.”
